Formal instruction starts with essential and afterward optional training and advanced education. It is the point at which we grow up we start to accomplish the reason for instruction and comprehension of its application in day by day life. It is accepted that instruction is to be liable for the development of a humanized society. Giving training to residents figures out how to build up a capable and astute network. Instruction helps in assimilating good and moral qualities in people and training, thusly, helps in making a solid society, which holds a profound comprehension of the standards and reasoning of life. The reason for getting instruction is to accomplish progress in the territories of activity to empower each individual from the network of students to procure a living. Additionally, one of the convictions about the motivation behind instruction is that training plans to make a decent instructor. I accept that understudies learn best when they are educated under specific conditions and in specific manners. A portion of these incorporate the studentââ¬â¢s backing and support, give them fearlessness, and offer them the chance to take an interest and examine in the homeroom. Additionally, educators urge them to act naturally and utilize their innovativeness. Delicate treatment and conscious treatment of understudies gives understudies a feeling of solace and the capacity to be delicate. The educational program of any homeroom ought to incorporate certain ââ¬Å"basicsâ⬠that add to studentsââ¬â¢ scholarly, enthusiastic, social, and physical turn of events. These fundamentals are exercises that help them to peruse and compose. Just as exercises that help to open mental speculation, for example, science. By doing so you will show the understudy the abilities required. Understudies learn best in a domain that advances learning. A portion of the attributes of a decent learning condition are to be a patron of the student condition and be quick to learning and improvement. A learning situation is agreeable and outfitted with the fundamental settings that help the understudy center and focus in the study hall. Lighting, cooling and homeroom size fitting for the quantity of understudies that help the understudies center. Should all be considered. An instructor ought to have certain characteristics and act in specific manners. Characteristics I believe are significant for instructing are regard between the understudy and the instructor, which helps in the making of the understudy esteems. The educator must be patient and bear the mix-ups of their understudies and help them to live. Be agreeable in managing with the goal that understudies feel good toward the instructor. That makes adaptability in correspondence among understudy and educator. Innovative educators can persuade understudies by utilizing imaginative and motivational strategies for instructing. There was no opportunity to return to the cafeteria and tell Bonnie and Meredith. Elena set off for her next class, past the deflected appearances and threatening eyes that were turning into very natural nowadays. We will compose a custom paper test on The Vampire Diaries: The Struggle Chapter Ten or on the other hand any comparative point just for you Request Now It was hard, in history class, not to gaze at Caroline, not to tell Caroline she knew. Alaric got some information about Matt and Stefan being missing for the second day straight, and Elena shrugged, feeling uncovered and in plain view. She didnââ¬â¢t trust this man with the innocent grin and the hazel eyes and the hunger for information about Mr. Tannerââ¬â¢s demise. What's more, Bonnie, who just looked at Alaric profoundly, was no assistance by any means. After class she got a piece of Sue Carsonââ¬â¢s discussion. ââ¬Å"â⬠¦ heââ¬â¢s on an excursion from school â⬠I overlook precisely whereâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ Elena had enough of prudent quietness. She spun around and talked legitimately to Sue and the young lady Sue was conversing with, blasting excluded into their conversation. ââ¬Å"If I were you,â⬠she said to Sue, ââ¬Å"I would avoid Damon. I mean that.â⬠There was alarmed, humiliated chuckling. Sue was one of only a handful not many individuals at school who hadnââ¬â¢t evaded Elena, and now she was looking as though she wished she had. ââ¬Å"You mean,â⬠said the other young lady reluctantly, ââ¬Å"because heââ¬â¢s yours, as well? Or on the other hand â⬠ââ¬Å" Elenaââ¬â¢s own giggling was cruel. ââ¬Å"I mean on the grounds that heââ¬â¢sdangerous ,â⬠she said. ââ¬Å"And Iââ¬â¢m not joking.â⬠They just took a gander at her. Elena spared them the further shame of answering or to get carefully groupies and set out toward Meredithââ¬â¢s storage. ââ¬Å"Where would we say we are going? I thought we were going to converse with Caroline.â⬠ââ¬Å"Not anymore,â⬠Elena said. ââ¬Å"Wait until we return home. At that point Iââ¬â¢ll let you know why.â⬠ââ¬Å"I canââ¬â¢t accept it,â⬠said Bonnie an hour later. ââ¬Å"I mean, I trust it, however I canââ¬â¢tbelieve it. Not even of Caroline.â⬠ââ¬Å"Itââ¬â¢s Tyler,â⬠Elena said. ââ¬Å"Heââ¬â¢s the one with the large plans. So much for men not being keen on diaries.â⬠ââ¬Å"Actually, we ought to thank him,â⬠said Meredith. ââ¬Å"Because of him at any rate we have until Foundersââ¬â¢ Day to take care of it.Why did you say it should be on Foundersââ¬â¢ Day, Elena?â⬠ââ¬Å"Tyler has something against the Fells.â⬠ââ¬Å"But theyââ¬â¢re all dead,â⬠said Bonnie. ââ¬Å"Well, that doesnââ¬â¢t appear to issue to Tyler. I recall him discussing it in the cemetery when we were taking a gander at their tomb. He thinks they took his ancestorsââ¬â¢ legitimate spot as the townââ¬â¢s authors or something.â⬠ââ¬Å"Elena,â⬠Meredith said truly, ââ¬Å"is there something else in the journal that could hurt Stefan? Other than the thing about the elderly person, I mean.â⬠ââ¬Å"Isnââ¬â¢t that enough?â⬠With those consistent, dull eyes on her, Elena felt uneasiness ripple between her ribs. What was Meredith inquiring? ââ¬Å"Enough to get Stefan come up short on town like they said,â⬠concurred Bonnie. ââ¬Å"Enough that we need to recover the journal from Caroline,â⬠Elena said. ââ¬Å"The just inquiry is, how?â⬠ââ¬Å"Caroline said she had it shrouded some place safe. That most likely methods her house.â⬠Meredith bit her lip keenly. ââ¬Å"Sheââ¬â¢s got only the one sibling in eighth grade, isn't that so? Furthermore, her mother doesnââ¬â¢t work, yet she goes out to shop in Roanoke a great deal. Do they despite everything have a maid?â⬠ââ¬Å"Why?â⬠said Bonnie. ââ¬Å"What distinction does it make?â⬠ââ¬Å"Well, we donââ¬â¢t need anyone strolling in while weââ¬â¢re burglarizing the house.â⬠ââ¬Å"While weââ¬â¢rewhat ?â⬠Bonnieââ¬â¢s voice rose to a squeak. ââ¬Å"You canââ¬â¢t be serious!â⬠ââ¬Å"What are we expected to do, simply kick back and hold up until Foundersââ¬â¢ Day, and let her read Elenaââ¬â¢s journal before the town? She took it from your home. Weââ¬â¢ve just got the chance to take it back,â⬠Meredith stated, maddeningly quiet. ââ¬Å"Weââ¬â¢ll get captured. Weââ¬â¢ll get removed from school â⬠on the off chance that we donââ¬â¢t wind up going to jail.â⬠Bonnie went to Elena in advance. ââ¬Å"Tell her, Elena.â⬠Also, it appeared to be such aâ⬠¦ aviolation , to go into someoneââ¬â¢s house when they were not there, to look through their assets. She would detest it in the event that somebody did that to her. In any case, obviously, somebody had. Caroline had damaged Bonnieââ¬â¢s house, and right presently had Elenaââ¬â¢s most private belonging in her grasp. ââ¬Å"Letââ¬â¢s do it,â⬠Elena said discreetly. ââ¬Å"But letââ¬â¢s be careful.â⬠ââ¬Å"Canââ¬â¢t we talk about this?â⬠said Bonnie feebly, looking from Meredithââ¬â¢s decided face to Elenaââ¬â¢s. ââ¬Å"Thereââ¬â¢s nothing to discuss. Youââ¬â¢re coming,â⬠Meredith advised her. ââ¬Å"You promised,â⬠she included, as Bonnie slowly inhaled to question once again. What's more, she held up her pointer. ââ¬Å"The blood vow was uniquely to help Elenaget Stefan!â⬠Bonnie cried. ââ¬Å"Think again,â⬠said Meredith. ââ¬Å"You swore you would do whatever Elena asked according to Stefan. There wasnââ¬â¢t anything about a period limit or about ââ¬Ëonly until Elena gets him.ââ¬â¢ ââ¬Å" Bonnieââ¬â¢s mouth dropped open. She took a gander at Elena, who was practically snickering notwithstanding herself. ââ¬Å"Itââ¬â¢s true,â⬠Elena said seriously. ââ¬Å"And you said it yourself: ââ¬ËSwearing with blood implies you need to adhere to your promise regardless of what happens.ââ¬â¢ ââ¬Å" Bonnie shut her mouth and push her jaw out. ââ¬Å"Right,â⬠she said horridly. ââ¬Å"Now Iââ¬â¢m stuck for an amazing remainder doing anything Elena desires me to do about Stefan. Wonderful.â⬠ââ¬Å"This is the exact opposite thing Iââ¬â¢ll ever ask,â⬠Elena said. ââ¬Å"And I guarantee that. I swear â⬠ââ¬Å" ââ¬Å"Donââ¬â¢t!â⬠said Meredith, out of nowhere genuine. ââ¬Å"Donââ¬â¢t, Elena. You may be sorry later.â⬠ââ¬Å"Now youââ¬â¢re taking up prediction, too?â⬠Elena said. And afterward she asked, ââ¬Å"So how are we going to get hold of Carolineââ¬â¢s house key for an hour or so?â⬠November9,Saturday Dear Diary, Iââ¬â¢m sorry itââ¬â¢s been for such a long time. Of late Iââ¬â¢ve been excessively occupied or too discouraged â⬠or both â⬠to keep in touch with you. Additionally, with everything thatââ¬â¢s happened Iââ¬â¢m practically reluctant to keep a journal at all any longer. Yet, I need somebody to go to, in light of the fact that correct now thereââ¬â¢s not a solitary individual, not a solitary individual on earth, that Iââ¬â¢m not keeping something from. Bonnie and Meredith canââ¬â¢t know reality with regards to Stefan. Stefan canââ¬â¢t know reality with regards to Damon. Auntie Judith canââ¬â¢t think about anything. Bonnie and Meredith think about Caroline and the journal; Stefan doesnââ¬â¢t.Stefan thinks about the vervain I utilize each day now, Bonnie and Meredith donââ¬â¢t. Indeed, even My life is loaded with lies at the present time, and I need someoneto be totally legit with. Iââ¬â¢m going to shroud this journal under the free plank of flooring in the wardrobe, with the goal that nobody will think that its regardless of whether I drop dead and they tidy up out my room. Perhaps one of Margaretââ¬â¢s grandkids will play in there sometime in the not so distant future, and will pry up the load up and haul it out, yet up to that point, no one. This journal is my last mystery. I donââ¬â¢t know why Iââ¬â¢m contemplating passing and biting the dust. Thatââ¬â¢s Bonnieââ¬â¢s furor; sheââ¬â¢s the person who figures it would be so sentimental. I comprehend what itââ¬â¢s truly like; there was nothing sentimental about it when Mom and Dad kicked the bucket. Simply the most noticeably awful sentiments on the planet. I need to live for a decent prolonged stretch of time, wed Stefan, and be cheerful. What's more, thereââ¬â¢s no motivation behind why I canââ¬â¢t, when every one of these issues are behind us. Then again, actually there are times when I get frightened and I donââ¬â¢t accept that. Furthermore, there are easily overlooked details that shouldnââ¬â¢t matter, yet they trouble me. Like why Stefan still wears Catherineââ¬â¢s ring around his neck, despite the fact that I realize he cherishes me. Like why heââ¬â¢s never said he adores me, despite the fact that I know itââ¬â¢s valid. It doesnââ¬â¢t matter. Everything will work out. It needs to work out. And afterward weââ¬â¢ll be as one and be glad. Thereââ¬â¢s no motivation behind why we canââ¬â¢t. Thereââ¬â¢s no motivation behind why we canââ¬â¢t. Thereââ¬â¢s no explanation. Elena quit composing, attempting to keep the letters on the page in center. Be that as it may, they just obscured further, and she shut the book before a selling out tear could fall on the ink. At that point she headed toward the wardrobe, pried up the free board with a nail record, and put the journal there. She had the nail record in her pocket seven days after the fact as them three, she and Bonnie and Meredith, remained outside Carolineââ¬â¢s secondary passage. ââ¬Å"Hurry up,â⬠murmured Bonnie in anguish, checking out the yard as though she anticipated that something should leap out at them. ââ¬Å"Come on, Meredith!â⬠ââ¬Å"There,â⬠said Meredith, as the key at last went the correct route into the dead jolt lock and the door handle respected her turning fingers. ââ¬Å"Weââ¬â¢re in.â⬠ââ¬Å"Are you suretheyââ¬â¢re not in? Elena, imagine a scenario in which they return early. Why couldnââ¬â¢t we do this in the daytime, at least?â⬠ââ¬Å"Bonnie, will you getinside ? Weââ¬â¢ve experienced this. The maidââ¬â¢s constantly here in the daytime. Furthermore, they wonââ¬â¢t be back early this evening except if someone becomes ill at Chez Louis. Presently, come on!â⬠said Elena. ââ¬Å"Nobody would set out to become ill at Mr. Forbesââ¬â¢s birthday dinner,â⬠Meredith said soothingly to Bonnie as the littler young lady stepped in. ââ¬Å"Weââ¬â¢re Breanna Trahanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09669122011479437235noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8022435302797911434.post-64364991126662150812020-05-26T05:09:00.001-07:002020-05-26T05:09:05.833-07:00A Research On Memory Strategies - 996 Words Memory Strategies Total-time hypothesis maintains the retention rate of information is directly correlated to how much and long one studies what he/she endeavors to learn (Matlin, 2012). The distributed-practice effect is the spreading of oneââ¬â¢s learning trials over time rather than cramming a large amount of content into a minuscule interval of time (Matlin, 2012). The testing effect argues that taking a test or practice test boosts long-term memory for academic material (Matlin, 2012). These three memory improvement strategies emphasize on aspects of practice in order to enhance the memory that one can use in everyday life. John is a junior at Grand Canyon University majoring in Christian Studies and Psychology. In order for John to maintain good grades in his classes, John takes advantage of the distributed-practice effect, total-time hypothesis, and testing effect to ensure he exceeds his exams. Total-time Hypothesis Total-time hypothesis simply says how much somebody learns depends on the time devoted to learning (Matlin, 2012). In general cases, this hypothesis has been proven valid and it is common for people to assume. However, there are many issues with this idea. This method focuses on the quantity aspects of studying instead of the quality of studying. Researchers contend the number of hours spent studying is not a variable that can be used to predict the grade-point average of a student (Matlin, 2012). One could say race has a poor relationship with America; that there is a strong connection between the two; or that they simply do not coincide with each other. Alain Locke, who is an American writer, educator, philosopher, patron of the arts, and ââ¬Å"Fatherâ⬠of the Harlem Renaissance, wrote several works of literature which went against the oppression of African American men, women, and children. Another famous Renaissance writer, Langston Hughes, touches on the American Dream in his work . Donââ¬â¢t waste time! Our writers will create an original "Racism in American Culture" essay for you Create order Both writers are trying to better societal views. Alain Lockes ââ¬Å"The New Negroâ⬠and Langston Hughesââ¬â¢ ââ¬Å"Let America be America Again â⬠both reveal the backwards and intolerable ways of this country. Alain Lockes ââ¬Å"The New Negroâ⬠is a term and work that was used during the Harlem Renaissance which implied outspoken advocacy of dignity and the complete refusal to submit to the practices of and laws of Jim Crow. These laws represented a formal, codified system of racial apartheid that dominated the American South for three quarters of a century beginning in the 1890s. The laws of Jim Crow consisted of the segregation of schools, public places, transportation, restrooms, restaurants, and drinking fountains. During all of this absurdity, The Great Migration was in full effect. African Americans were taking a stand and boycotting the laws of Jim Crow which gave them power to escape the oppression they were facing. Most of them left their homes in the south and headed north in search of employment and a new beginning. This migration expressed the extent of their voice and gained power . Alain Locke said ââ¬Å"..the mind of the Negro seems suddenly to have slipped from under the tyranny of social intimidation and to be shaking off the psychology of imitation and implies inferiority. By shedding the old chrysalis of the Negro problem were are achieving something like a spiritual emancipation.â⬠By shedding this ââ¬Å"chrysalisâ⬠, Alain is showing how the attitude and mindset of the negro is no longer shaken by inferiority and is now receiving spiritual freedoms. Racism in America seems to be a universally known concept and Langston Hughesââ¬â¢ ââ¬Å"Let America Be America Againâ⬠demonstrates his thoughts of the American dream. This poem also contrasts Hughesââ¬â¢ hopes for America with the reality of life for those outside of the socially and economically dominant racial, religious, and social groups. In the poem he says, ââ¬Å"American was never America to me.â⬠What he means is America was supposed to be where freedom reigns, where opportunities are available, and where equality was important. By saying ââ¬Å"Let America be America againâ⬠Langston Hughes is trying to bring back the idea and desire to live in a place where everyones dreams could come true but unfortunately he is seeing that this entire concept is flipped upside down and inside out. This gimmick that was created fooled everyone especially African Americans looking for a new life with freedom. These two works of literature show both sides of America through the lens of racism. In ââ¬Å"The New Negroâ⬠, Locke shows that America has dug itself a hole and rid itself of its name ââ¬Å"land of the free.â⬠The African American people that were being oppressed by the white people of this country fought back because they realized that they had a voice and stood up for themselves and rejected that oppression which in a way shows the kinds of things America promised but tried to take away from a certain group of people because they were of another race. Langston Hughes essentially mirrors Locke with his poem ââ¬Å"Let America Be America Again.â⬠In his poem he shares what he thought America is about and how it lacks the aspect of the American dream it is so well known for; things like a better life, when they suck you dry, things like equal opportunities, and then discriminate. What both authors show is that America contradicted itself with so many things that peo ple lost respect for the country and fought back. Fortunately, in todays society, there are not a lot of oppressed people that need to fight back. Today people are more sensitive and accepting when it comes to anyone and as a democracy, we have the power to voice our opinion. One of the greatest leaders our nation had and was influenced by was Martin Luther King Jr. He fought for change and love and equality. In 1963, he wrote a letter called ââ¬Å"The Letter from Birminghamâ⬠and in it he says ââ¬Å"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affect one directly affects all indirectly.â⬠Martin Luther is trying to convey the unity between us and how one injustice affects all of us even if it is indirect. His letter was used to demonstrate how to fight back against racism in a nonviolent manner. Langston Hughes had a rather larger influence on Martin Luther King Jr. especially in his speeches. He would refer to Hughesââ¬â¢ poems in his speeches but would never utter the poets name to prevent havoc. Langston Hughes and Alain Locke both influenced power of the people and that changed history. One such defender, Nina de Villard, said of The Little Fourteen-Year-Old Dancer, The work that is misunderstood today will one day be in a museum looked upon with respect as the first formulation of a new art. De Villard displayed more foresight than her fellow critics. A cast of The Little Fourteen-Year-Old Dancer along with more than 300 oil paintings, watercolors, works on papers and prints are currently enjoying the limelight as the inaugural exhibition of the Metropolitan Musem of Arts new Tisch Galleries. The exhibit, the first ofà Degas work in 50 years, will open Tuesday and run through Jan. 8. The range of subjects includes not onlyà Degas famous ballet dancers, but also paintings of horse races, laundries, brothels, cafes and his lesser-known nudes. Althoughà Degasà is often associated with the Impressionists, helped them organize their shows and participated in their exhibitions, his art clearly stands apart. His works are the product of carefully made sketches in which he altered reality as he saw fit to create the maximum visual as well as psychological interest. The Impressionists instead worked directly from life, with little preparatory work, to capture fleeting moments. As a result, the viewer of most Impressionist works remains a casual observer, while the viewer ofà Degas is often drawn in by the psychological tensions, most evident in his early pieces, and the subtle formal aspects of his later works. Degas work grows out of the long tradition of art history. He is often quoted as telling the Irish writer George Moore that his art was the product of the study of the Old Masters. Degasà met the neo-Classicist artist J. A. D. Ingres in 1855, when a friend of his fathers, M. Edouard Valpincon, refused to lend Ingres Bather to a large show of Ingres works. Valpincon feared the possibility of a fire. Whenà Degasà heard this, he was furious. You cannot refuse Monsieur Ingres request! he exclaimed. Valpincon relented and took the pieces as well asà Degasà to Ingres. Ingres advised the young artist to draw lines . . . many lines, after nature and from memory.à Degasà took the advice to heart. Ingres is present in all ofà Degas lines crisp, sensitive and with little shading as is apparent in his studies for his first masterpiece, The Bellelli Family. Degasà went to Italy the prerequisite trip for any artist of his day in 1856 and reached Florence in 1858. There, he began a painting of his aunt Lauras family, the Bellellis.à Degas composition is bold and differs from Ingres in the unconventional pose used and and the narrative elements in the works background. Three of the family members the wife, one of the two girls and the husband look away from the viewer. Only the standing girl stares out of the canvas in typical Ingres fashion. The figures wear dark clothing, signifying the familys mourning ofà Degas grandfather, represented in the drawing hanging on the wall. The black outfit also hides Lauras pregnancy; but what is not hidden is the tension between her and her husband. Her sad face and Ingres-like features appealed toà Degasà and clearly his sympathy for the familys discord lies with his aunt. The husband is shown in an awkward and unflattering pose, isolated and separate from both his wife and children. Althoughà Degasà continued to paint such portraits throughout most of his life, he found them boring and beneath his ambitions. He turned to producing history paintings, of which his first entry into the Paris Salon, The Misfortunes of the City of Orleans, was one. But such works were notà Degas strength. The best that can be said of them is that he introduced to the genre contemporary figures to replace the tradition use of Greek ideals. Slough And Composed Upon Westminster Bridge EssayComplex compositional arrangements, which already with Dancers at Their Toilette had become quite a bit simplier, andà Degas interest in subtle psychological nuances were superseded in his final works by his interest in the physicality of his subjects. His pictures became simplified. The number of figures in a work was reduced, heads became generalized and features nearly nonexistent.à Degasà returned to studying the body almost exclusively the female body with an almost clinical coldness. He told Moore, I show them (women) deprived of their airs and affections reduced to the level of animals cleaning themselves. Figures such as those in After the Bath primarily display a real sense of weight, mass and physicalness. The strain of the pose of After the Bath, which consists of a young woman oddly arched over the back of a chaise longue, is slightly exaggerated to express the figures awkward position. In other works, the arms long tired of posing hang slightly longer than believable. In all these works, definite indications of features and details are suppressed. A general color usually an unnatural color envelopes the form and lines are strategically placed to indicate the forms contours. These nudes, some ofà Degas greatest works, with all their sensuous color, nearly abstract simplicity and strange croppings break through to the emergence of modern art. It is a fictionalized biography of Okuni, the seventeenth-century priestess-dancer at the Grand Shrine in Izumo whom Ariyoshi credits as the founder of Kabuki Theatre. The tale is an effective depiction of the lifestyles of three family lines of ladies associated with one another by blood in the Meiji, Taisho and Showa durations. In addition to the cookââ¬â¢s personal passion for the job, the cook also have a deep understanding that particular foods can make us feel in certain ways; that we will always connect a certain sense of our well being with food (Anon, 2004). This explains why cooks are exerting tremendous effort when they prepare our food. They knew that foods do not only feeds and nourishes the body but also makes us ââ¬Å"feelâ⬠in certain ways. Cooks can be considered as ââ¬Å"food artistsâ⬠. In the same way that a painter can convey emotions with his or her masterpieces, cooks can also transmit his or her emotion through food. In fact, cooks can even transmit a stronger emotion to the consumers than what a visual artist does because the experience in partaking food prepared by the cook is more personal and satisfying compared to an artist who only makes emotional impression with its audience. Ways a cook can transmit emotions through food As stated earlier, food stimulates a ââ¬Å"web of association within us. Foods appeals to our senses and arouses certain emotions that link us to certain people, times, and other places (McDonald, 2007) and being such, is able to transmit emotions to us. Many questions are asked in the book, such as ââ¬Å"What is an ideal city? â⬠Or, ââ¬Å"What is justice? â⬠And, ââ¬Å"Is justice in the city possible? â⬠Socrates tries to find the real meaning of the word justice. He starts with justice within a single person, and then he tries to take that concept and apply it to the city. Then, to figure out the perfect city, he goes back to the single person to find justice there. He shows that the perfect city needs the people in it to be assigned to their place. People who play their role in the city must be people of justice for the city to have justice. For Socrates, his idea of a perfect city has all the needed requirements for the city to exist with harmony. In order to develop the idea for a perfect city, Socrates has to create two versions of his city. In his first version of a city, each person in the city fills a need for the city. They are like gears in a watch, and they must fit perfectly. But a city that runs well like a watch doesnââ¬â¢t make a just city. Socrates brother points out that people need luxuries and entertainment. So the second version of the city needs luxuries. Platos ideal city is really the search for the truth of justice, if Socrates were able to find the relationship between the soul and city in his ideal city then he would have the true meaning of justice. We saw from the reading how he broke down the citys parts and also the soul. According to Plato, Socrates broke down the perfect city into four parts; each part is tied to a specific virtue that he believes will help define justice. The first three virtues are wisdom, courage, and moderation. Wisdom is the whole knowledge, which describes the rulers of the city. The rulers should be the ones who incorporate philosophy and ruling together to rule the city wisely. Courage describes the guardians, whose job was to defend the city from invasion and take new lands for the city. The third virtue of the ideal city was moderation which is the concept of self-control and each person knowing his or her role, also the concept of one man, one job. In The Republic, Plato divides the city into three classes: gold, silver, and brass and iron souls. Each class is designated to have a specific virtue. He believes that wisdom, courage, moderation, and justice combine together to form The Republic. Platoââ¬â¢s four virtues individually do not produce a perfect society. A combination of the four in each citizen is needed to have the ideal society. In Platoââ¬â¢s idea for the perfect ââ¬Å"republicâ⬠, he decides that the basis of the city will be on four virtues. The first of them is wisdom. Plato defines wisdom as knowledge of the city as a whole. Of the three classes, the gold souls possess the virtue of wisdom. The gold souls are the only class whose knowledge goes beyond the mere facts to the level of true wisdom. In the Republic, the gold souls would be the philosopher kings, because they have been taught to see the truth of all things. The idea that philosophers should be kings would infuriate the leaders. Socrates threatened their positions and their qualification for being leaders. This is likely why they made false charges against him and killed him, as shown in his Socratesââ¬â¢ Apology.? The second virtue that Plato defines is courage. Courage is the preservation of the opinion produced by law, through education about what things are bad and what things are good. Courage can be found in the silver souls. Plato uses the example that when dyers want to dye wool, they start with the background. They need the right kind of white material, and they have to prepare it carefully; and if they go to this trouble, you cannot bleach the color out. If they do a poor job of it, the cloth quickly becomes washed-out and faded. Plato uses the dying analogy to city how he wishes to train the silver souls. He states that the people will undergo a precise training. Only uplifting music and physical activity will only be allowed. Plato wants a good upbringing to make the right ideas permanent in them, so that the bleach of pleasure, grief, fear, or death, would not wash the true colors from their souls. Once they get to this point of having a clear, firm grasp of what is really dangerous to a man, they knew their only task was to show courage. The silver souls can be compared with the guardians of the city who were not selected to be the leaders. They are also referred to as the auxiliaries. The third virtue in The Republic, is moderation. Plato defines moderation as the kind of harmony between the brass and silver souls. Moderation is the ability to control desires and to be the master of oneââ¬â¢s own self. There are two things at work in a manââ¬â¢s heart. One is good, and one is bad. The bad can overwhelm the good. If the people have bad training or keep company with the wrong people, the bad force grows powerful and can overwhelm the good. If the good one controls them, then there is moderation; but if the bad one controls, they are a slave to their own desires. When a city as a whole is moderate, it is in harmony. Moderation is different from wisdom or courage. It is found not just in the gold and silver souls, but as something that runs throughout the city. The kings and the guardians must possess these to be people of justice and to help the city be a city of justice. The brass and iron class were the workers, and they are not held to the same high standard of sacrifice and knowledge that the silver and gold classes are, but as individuals they are required to have the same balance of the three virtues. However, they are stuck in the cave, looking at the forms on the walls. Their role in the city is to not be as enlightened as their leaders.? The fourth virtue comes when the city has a perfect balance of the other three. That is justice. The ideal city described in the Republic is ideal because it relates all essential parts to bring harmony among the different kind of people and the virtues that go hand in hand with to bring about justice. Socrates did have a belief that the personââ¬â¢s sex should not matter when it comes to their role in the perfect city. People were assigned to their roles based on if they fit the role ââ¬â that is all. Socrates believed that if a woman can do everything a man can do then so be it. She could become a guardian. So, if a woman is fit for a guardian position, she should be a guardian. This belief was ahead of its time by more than 2000 years. Therefore, the question should be asked, ââ¬Å"Is such a city possible, or is it just an ideal that is good to dream about? â⬠My answer would be that it is impossible because it seems that everyone has a specific role to follow depending upon their abilities, both physically and mentally. What Socrates assumed is that with all the justice, people will be content with where they are. People who do not have much always look at the rich and want that kind of life. People on the bottom are always going to want more, which is human nature. This part of human nature will probably never be kept down, no matter how much justice there is in a city. The people of the city will be happy for some time, but the people at the bottom will ask questions about why theyââ¬â¢re stuck in the job they have. When one group decides they want more the happiness will be destroyed, because each group will want more and more. The lower groups always want to reach for the top. When we see kids today, they are always striving to become the best and do something out of the ordinary, something that may be out of their class but if determined they can accomplish any feat. I know from my own experience, growing up in India, that big problems occur in a society when we classify everything, because the lower classes want to be higher. This is just basic human nature. Putting Plato and Socrates city to real life, take any country or city. For instance, India is a country that still has a lot of problems with castes. The highest caste was the educated Brahmins and the lowest caste is still called ââ¬Å"Untouchables. â⬠The Brahmins were only to be knowledgeable, or educated, and there were also people who entered the armies or were placed into them. The armies were the guardians of India, protecting the kingdoms and constantly looking for new land to acquire. The lower castes worked as tradesman and farmers. They took care of the basic needs of everyone in the country by producing products for the entire country. When you look at India today, it is changing. In the cities, you see people succeeding no matter what their caste is. Untouchables are getting educated more and they are not held back from getting a job just because they are untouchable, and India is improving without the required placement of people in lifelong roles. What happened? People do not want to be placed in certain roles, even if the role suits them. It is fine if you are the upper class, but the people at the bottom want to achieve success and rise to the top, which breaks down Socratesââ¬â¢s perfect city. No one wants to be content with being at the bottom; everyone wants to be able to try to be at the top. Platos ideal city would only work if people were content with their God-given positions. If there is harmony between the groups, then there is happiness, as we see in the soul and city throughout The Republic. However, in real life people find harmony with themselves when they achieve their goals and live a good life. I agree with that philosophy because I also want to achieve more and I am happy when I achieve my goals. Unfortunately, no one is truly happy though because people will always want more. In the beginning of the story when he meets the Devil in the forest the narrator states that the Devil ââ¬Å"was about fifty years old, apparently in the same rank of life as Goodman Brown, and bearing a considerable resemblance to him, (Hawthorne, 337).â⬠Through this statement the reader now knows that Young Goodman Brown is not young as his name implies, he is actually a very old man who is just now reaching the stage in life where one realizes that the world is not surfeited with just purity alone, it also contains evil. When the reader first begins the story it is automatically assumed that his title Young Goodman Brown means that he is literally young, which further implies innocence, immaturity, and naive ness. During the Puritan times the title Goodman was equivalent to the present day title of mister. Hawthorne presents a character that has the assumed name of a child, Young Goodman Brown, and the demeanor and thought process of a child; however, the reader is to discover later that he is an adult with the mindset of a child. When the reader discovers that the character is not a child, the fact that Brown was taking a journey into what he believed was initiation to manhood during the beginning of the story now makes the situation very awkward. Young Goodman Brown maintains the mindset of a child; he is naà ¯ve to the fact that the world and people are not pure in and innocent even though they take part in the pure puritan religion. Doctorââ¬â¢s use computerââ¬â¢s or laptop in the office and exam rooms to enter electronic health records (EHR). The EHR makes it easier for the patients to receive better organized care along with better organized health statistics. The Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act (HIPAA) administers the HIPPA Privacy and Security Rules for individualââ¬â¢s protection of their health information. Many doctors and health care providers recognize and accept all requirements under the Security and Privacy Rules. EHR permits health care providers and doctorââ¬â¢s to use data efficiently in their care and to develop the superiority and effectiveness for the betterment of the patient. Hospitals, doctorââ¬â¢s offices, and care givers must meet the criteria of Electronic Health Record Program to become eligible for the Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS). The first year, hospitals and Eligible Professionals (EP) do not have to demonstrate their important use, but are obligated to approve or upgrade to an (EHR) for them to receive payments for the services rendered. I will discuss gender inequality and its impact on creating as well demolishing families. I will mention different family structures and how gender roles have changed throughout time. I will explain how feminism has given opportunities to women and in effect transformed the family structure. First let me define gender. Gender is composed of three parts: biology, gender roles, and sexuality. Gender roles are the behaviors, attitudes, appearance, and etcetera that a specific culture has deemed appropriate for a specific sex. May I note that gender roles can and do vary between cultures. Some cultures even include a third gender category because not everyone fits withinâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦In our society we have come to believe that because a man is physically stronger (generally speaking) he is the one in charge of protecting the woman. Even though there are many women who are perfectly capable of protect ing themselves. So when two women are together in a relationship gender roles are blurred. There are those who donââ¬â¢t understand who will fill the role of protector. This is why I believe that gender role does more harm than good. In our culture, boys and girls are taught every day- either consciously or subconsciously- how they are supposed to act. For example, when we see commercials with military toys for boys and pretty little princesses for girls. In movies and television, men are the heroes in which they save the women. We all have heard the expression, ââ¬Å"boys will be boysâ⬠, when they are rough-housing or playing rambunctiously. However, girls should not partake in these activities for they may get hurt and thatââ¬â¢s not how a lady acts anyway. Therefore boys receive the message that boys are to be in charge and dominant and the girls should be submissive (socialization approach). ââ¬Å"Societyââ¬â¢s expectations about how to behave are transmitted to children through channels such as parents, books, television, and peer groups. In these ways, cultural differences between men and women are reproduced in the next generation. Many historical hurricanes like Harvey, Katrina, Sandy have killed hundreds of people and cost billions of dollars to repair the damages. But many reform bills and agencies throughout the years have either improved humanitarian conditions or became under tremendous scrutiny by the public for its lack of assistance. In addition, there have been many technological advances made to help people prepare before and after the storm. Hurricanes have altered many peopleââ¬â¢s lives in one way or another and have caused people to always be prepared for potential impact. Hurricanes have always had a tremendous impact on the history of the United States. Accordingâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Hurricane Katrina left more than 80% of New Orleans flooded and caused more than 1.800 deaths (NOAA). Meteorologist and storm tracker Jim Cantore said thatâ⬠Katrina sets the bar for how bad a hurricane can be.â⬠Hurricane Katrina also caused major damage to the NFLââ¬â¢s New Orleans Saints stadium, the Superdome, and caused many NFL officials, including the New Orleans Saints Owner Tom Benson to speculate whether New Orleans would ever be sufficient enough to ever play an NFL game again. Hurricane Katrina also caused a major drop in the population of New Orleans. Between 2000 and 2006, there was more than a 50% drop in population (NOAA). The NOAA said, ââ¬Å"It was one of the largest displacements of a population since the Great Depression.â⬠Hurricane Katrina was a very catastrophic storm that left a major impact in New Orleans, but it also affected how other agencies run their operations. In 1979, President Jimmy Carter created the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) that was charged with the task of responding to natural disasters that are deemed too much for local and state officials (Wikipedia). FEMA has always been a polarizing agency, but it especially became polarized after it joined the Department of Homeland Security in 2003. Many people wanted FEMA to stay independent like Michael Brown, who was appointed FEMA director by George W. And the importance of memory and reflection are made plain by the shifting time perspectives in the poem. The poem begins with the speaker on the banks of the Wye for the first time in five years. At first the poet emphasizes the way in which his present experience is similar to that of five years ago. More than once he tells us that again; he has certain experiences in this secluded spot, aâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦They come so freely from us that it is only in retrospect that we recognize them for what they were. However they are the true measure of what we are, and what we are is determined in large part by what we remember of our lives, by the shape we give our lives in memory. It is the recoll ection of good memories, the naming of nameless pleasures, that help make us the kind of people who commit nameless unremembered acts of kindness and love. nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; So the mood that leads the author to see into the life of things begins with recollection and memory, of pleasures of good deeds. But these memories occur in what seems like and otherwise dreary time for the author, when he is weary and lonely. They occur in times when the fever of the world; has burdened the author, when his worries have lead him to fruitless endeavors, and when he has suffered from the evil tongues,; rash judgments, and the sneers of selfish men; he points to later in the poem. Memories of the Wye raise the authors spirits, and distance him from the concerns of his daily life. The author is able to step back and look at himself from above. The vision he presents of the soul leaving the body is not one of death but of release from the concerns of every day life. The authors soul floats above his body. Personally, Itââ¬â¢s important for me to know what my straights are to help me to manage myself where I can produce positive results by improving it and identify incompetency on me and avoid it. Having the knowledge and control upon my strengths and weaknesses can help me to avoid intellectual disruption and also will help me to avoid manipulation from negative influences. Knowing my main straights helps me to focus more on maximizing my strengths and minimize my weaknesses. My Islamic-Arabian originality and being a member of a large family helped me to develop great interpersonal skills with solid confidence in myself. To me, being an interpersonal is having proper sets of skills to interact with every person who have a conflict point of view. I donââ¬â¢t need to either agree/disagree with the person, I just like to hear peopleââ¬â¢s ideas and reflect them on new ideas and information. This skill of mine helps me to be more self-regulated and be more open with everyone, regardless of his/her root background. My artistic side of me has contributed in a many ways in my life. My deep affection in analyzing paintings and drawing comics is most definitely a spatial intelligence in me. One time in my life I majored in architecture because I got very inspired in the Turkish mosques designs of Aya Sophie and how beautiful it looks, and started to draw amazing designs of mosques just for my amusement. Spatial intelligence is when I remember things visually, including exact sizes and shapes of objects, like visualizing maps in three-dimensions for example, when I get lost in a new city I visualize my own map exactly to the way I walked from in my head and remember my way back again. Photographic memory also a solid skill I have and wide imagination is my everyday skill to remember certain things I want to use in my college classes, which I count it as number one useful method to excel my performance that I need to master. These types of strengths I obtain have different mix of qualities and features that shapes my personality because I learned by doing and preforming this skills inside the family environment which I can get a direct feedback in any unusual notice about my behavior. These useful feedbacks help me to gain both some interpersonal and kinesthetic skills because by knowing about my performance helps me to gain a better understanding about my action, so I learn thinking before acting. As wells as learning how to do it better. My love for smooth debate about an idea is probably my favorite conversation I could have with a person who has a different point of view. Objecting to an idea and express complex comebacks to it is definitely would be a skill that I need to improve and even master it. My Arabian intellectual instinct allows me to be a solid debater for some hot controversial topics. One of my emotional weaknesses is negative thoughts. Negative thoughts can get the best of me and probably is my main weakness. They are like termites that chew up and spit happiness from me. It has a big disadvantage on my efficiency and how do I work or preform, either at work or school. It starts out being fine in the beginning and preform very well at communicating and keep on with the program, but not until an emotional shock comes along and ruin the pure enthusiasm and turn it to coldness. The common thoughts that gets me is the one associated with inner defense; like being disappointed in myself for not getting things done, or knowing how lazy I am, and develop a destructive behavior, like rejection, fear, envy, and even anger on my peers and class-mates. I have been always experiencing times where I was depressively weak and another days being strong and confident. Many problems in my life had broken me down into pieces and left me helpless and other time I found myself motivated and positive. I couldnââ¬â¢t understand why I find myself emotionally strong or weak. For me, finding an answer was to look after peopleââ¬â¢s feedbacks about myself and be more serious about initiate changes to have a better control on my subconscious and think brightly before initiating an act. After a long research on how to be more emotionally strong, I found out that the more I can be in control in my actions the more I feel stronger, and the more I blame my external factor actions the more I become weaker and look helpless to other. So far what I learned about developing my ââ¬Å"oneselfâ⬠and managing it properly is that if I really want to become a leader and emotionally stable then I have to free myself from the unfixable system I am living in as we speak. Having the sense of being in control is a great opportunity to gain a leadership skill and grow up emotionally. Identifying strengths and weaknesses can be a journey in our lives that we have to go to. Many men and women around the world have lost a great opportunity to get on the success ride, but they never spent the time to look over themselves and lost their precious selves into the dark valley of failure blinded by their past mistakes. In conclusion, looking at myself into another perspective helped me to identify myself clearly. It is very important to know my strengths and weaknesses to help managing my tempers properly and not to develop distractive behavior and cause negative influences on my surroundings. To me being a great leader is to know yourself before you know others because you definitely canââ¬â¢t relate to someone before you experienced the same thing they go through. But, one many of us will gasp in disbelief when we understand that various colors seen in this world of objects are actually non-existent. Every object is basically colorless but when it is exposed to solar rays these objects absorb certain colors from the rays and reject others. It is only on this basis that we see ââ¬Ëcoloredââ¬â¢ objects. That color not absorbed by an object is sent back i. e. reflected. This reflected light enters our eye and thus we think that object to be of the reflected solar rayââ¬â¢s color. Plants in reality are not green in color since basically they are colorless. But they appear as green because plants cannot absorb the ââ¬Ëgreenââ¬â¢ color of solar rays falling on them. Since this green color gets reflected it enters our eye which assumes that the plant is green in color. Yet, a monochrome World be much similar to watching a black and white television. There would be not much variation and everything would be of the same shades, black and white, would be so gray, sad and gloomy.. Colours make nature, fashion, flags and the various races much more interesting and diverse. Without colours, nature would not be appreciated as much as it is coloured. A peach and an apple would look almost identical. There would be no distinct features. There would be no longer a wider range of choices when shopping. Accessories like earrings and necklaces would no longer stand out unless they were really one of kind. Therefore, I strongly agree that without colour, the world would indeed be a boring place to exist. Basically, situation ethics is a doctrine in ethics which is based on the belief that our moral code ââ¬Å"should be based on a case-to-case basis.â⬠What makes this doctrine controversial is that more people subscribe to the opposite idea in which morality should be absolute and withstanding despite any other factors that come into play. In contrast with the laws established in any particular land or country, the ethics (which is how people subscribe and abide by those laws) are pre-established and are supposed to be absolute regardless of anything that happens. This is especially the case for the earliest establishment of the law and law enforcement, where anyone who goes beyond or outside the rules are not only considered ââ¬Ëunethicalââ¬â¢ but also sanctioned. However, as societies grow and change, they become open to new ideas which include the concept of openness to fresh perspectives. This is the reason why today laws include sub-clauses that give a little flexibility to anything that might happen, and anyone who would break the law must also prove that these exceptions (as dedicated by the law) have indeed happened. Nevertheless, the law and the ethics that comes with it today still remains absolute. This makes it more similar to situational ethics is that it has more flexibility despite the fact that it is not entirely a case-to-case basis just as what situational ethics stands for. Rather, the rule of law just includes what it thinks are all the possible solutions. However, there is an issue which the situations which might arise and which are not included in the coded law. This is another argument of those people who argue that situational ethics should prevail over these circumstances. A move that would consider the situation more rather than what the society prescribes based on statements written on a piece of paper. Aside from what has already stated above, situation ethics does not contradict the coded law which is at the societal level. Just as how it contradicts these societal constructs, situational ethics might also appear in resistance with our own personal belief systems. As we all know, our personal belief systems are based on our own culture and society which dictates what we should believe in. On a deeper level, these societal norms mold us more than the things and ideas that we can put into words. And, as people with these different personal beliefs clash with each other (e.g. people with a different religion) ethics based on the coded rules of each might fail to show whoââ¬â¢s right, or at least resolve the conflict between these entities of different mindsets. This is another place where situational ethics could thrive. A place where different beliefs, that suggests different codes of ethics, crashes into each other and creates an anomie, or a phenomenon with the lack of social o r ethical standards within a group of people. By using situational ethics (e.g. respect for other peopleââ¬â¢s culture) in a place where cultural-based ethics (e.g. differences of meaning of particular gestures) clashes with one another, every other person could thrive and live peacefully with one another. Overall, it could be summarized from all the points stated above, that in most places different ethics (regional-based/constitutional) are determined by their own culture, mindset, and upbringing. However, as these differences meet and clash with each other, conflicts might arise. Therefore, in these conflicts, situational ethics can prove to be the best alternative in order for everyone to consolidate, reach a conclusion, and live together peacefully despite any and all differences that they have. Tenant default is defined as the breach of agreement of the tenancy contract (The Law Commission, 2006). Spotted Dice Limited has breached the agreement with Lansbury Towers when the former defaulted with the rent payment, service charge, and insurance contributions. It is very important that the Landlord will carefully consider the action needed. In order for this to happen, the landlord should assess whether the default made by the tenant is just temporary or the tenant wants to terminate the lease (Green 2012). Without commencing any court proceedings, there are different remedies available to the management of Lansbury Towers where the tenant Spotted Dice Limited is in default such as forfeiture, levying distress, recovery as a debt, recovery from third parties, negotiations, surrender and reduction of rent (Cass 2013). Most of the lease contract contains a clause that will entitle the landlord to forfeit the lease in case of default. This remedy is considered one of the fastest, simplest and cheapest which will only require locks and notice to the premise (Cass 2013). ââ¬Å"The right of landlord to forfeit arises: However, under Section 146 of the Law of Property Act of 1925, the landlordââ¬â¢s right to forfeit in respect to tenantââ¬â¢s default and breach of contract will not be enforceable unless a notice containing the following is served on the tenant: The Commercial Rent Arrears Recovery (CRAR) provides the new process for landlords of commercial premises such as Lansbury Towers to recover tenantââ¬â¢s default by taking control of tenantââ¬â¢s goods. There should be no residential element and CRAR requires lease of commercial premises and recovery for principal rent for it to apply. This remedy is very handy as it only requires transparency of process through a notice given Breanna Trahanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09669122011479437235noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8022435302797911434.post-27042544320083896232019-11-20T07:14:00.001-08:002019-11-20T07:14:03.448-08:00Mining-hazrds Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 wordsMining-hazrds - Assignment Example The hazards are more dangerous and also unhealthy as compared to other industries. Among the difficulties are the working conditions in the quarries and mines. The employees are exposed to climatic and also weather conditions especially those working in the surface mines. Sometimes the mines may be covered during winter but it only makes the work much more dangerous. However, surface mines pose less risk compared with underground mines. They are recorded to be a dump, noisy, dark and even hot. It, therefore, poses a risk to the health of the workers (Hopkins 2001, p. 25). Water may cover the tunnel floors up to the level of several inches. The only source of lighting in the mines is from the hats of the workers. The operations in the mines get done on limited space. Workers are forced to work on their stomach, knees, hands or their backs. It, therefore, makes the environment less conducive to work. There are unique dangers in the underground mines such as the mine fires, workers being exposed to harmful gases, cave-in and also explosions. Additional hazard that gets experienced in the mining industry is dust. It is generated by the drilling process in the mines. Workers who get exposed to the dust are prone to contaminating lung diseases (Hopkins 2001, p. 26). Hazards can get compared on an international level. It becomes important to integrate the groupings of hazards as well as labeling. A system for all chemicals and also mixtures of the chemicals has, therefore, got established. The classification of the chemical enables the consideration of the adverse effects and helps in evaluating the steps to take. The community, on the other hand, is directly affected by the mining operations. The hazards are felt by the community as they lose their people in the mines. Mining operations affects the community socially, environmentally and also economically. Many organizations put it the other way, where their clients come first and then its employees, but not Wegmans Food Market, Inc. In Wegmans Food Market, workers are considered as an asset to improve efficiency of their social responsibility approach. HR policies, together with its practices, are always connected to the strategic organizational goals. The organizational practices and policies should, at all times, be aimed at improving the individual performance every worker (Becton & Schraeder, 2009). HR should make sure that workers are treated equitably and fairy. Practices and policies in an organization influence how workers relate and interact with one another (Becton & Schraeder, 2009). For instance, in Wegmans Food Market, Inc., the organization typically employees part time workers without any intention of shifting their condition to full time workers, which can significantly cause a huge employee turnover (CNN Money, 2011). HR strategies are the methods by which the organizationââ¬â¢s human resource specific tasks are executed (Wilton, 2010). There are ââ¬Å"HR function strategyâ⬠and ââ¬Å"people strategyâ⬠in any organization that has HR strategies. People strategy applies the relationship of the HR policies, as well as the overall realization of the organizational objectives. According to Becton & Schraeder (2009), functional strategy arises in a situation where the policies HRM are applied for the attainment of departmental goals, as well as the effective management of the workers in the organization. Wilton (2010) argues that there is hard HRM strategy, as well, whereby the workers are considered the same as any other significant resource in an organization or even soft HRM strategy in which every worker is treated as a special resource. All this strategies can be seen in Wegmans Food Marketââ¬â¢s HR strategy. Developmental psychologists have been making research about the role played by parents and its impact on child development. However, developing a cause-and-effect link between parents behavior and brought up and its impact on child behavior and attitude is a relatively tough task. This can be proved from the fact that children who share a home and are brought up in the same environment, under same circumstances may develop a remarkably different personality than one another. A parenting style is a psychological concept based on regular strategies that parents use while raising their children. There are several different theories and concepts about the best and perfect ways to raise a child. Parenting style plays an important role in raising a child. Baumrinds theory about parenting identifies four distinctive parenting st yles and is complimented by a well-supported and organized progression of ideas. All these tend to cover different parenting techniques worldwide and have contrast with Baumrinds theory. Parental responsibilities start soon after the birth and play a significant role and leave an impact on childs overall life. Most of the parents usually develop their own parenting style usually based upon amalgamation of factors such as childrens temperament and parenting style influenced by their own upbringing, what they observed in other families, what they have been trained and the surrounding culture. There is no hard and fast rule about parenting. It usually evolves with the passage of time as children grow up and develop their personalities. The quality of parenting is an important influence on childrens intellectual, emotional and social development ( Nevid, 2009). How parents put in effort to respond and correct their children greatly impacts how they progress individually and socially. A childs development process is influenced by several factors, for instance, the people and situations he comes into close contact and interaction. Parents influence is the greatest on a chi lds development. The positivity as well as negativity in a childs attitude and behavior is because of parents brought up and parenting style. In 1960s a very famous theory about parenting was developed by Diana Baumrind. This theory was based upon three parenting style named authoritative, permissive and authoritarian. Later, another vital factor named uninvolved was added by Maccoby and Martin. Diana adopted a broad and well managed way to study on more than 100 preschool-age children. She used several approaches using naturalistic observation, parental interviews and other research methods. This broad study helped her to figure out and recognize four important aspects of parenting which include disciplinary strategies, warmth and nurturance, communication styles and expectation of maturity and control. The three parenting styles found out by Diana were based upon these dimensions. According to authoritarian parenting style, parents expect their children to strictly follow the rules and regulations set by them. Parents tend to punish their children if they fail to obey them. Authoritarian parents fail to give any explanation or reason for the rules imposed by them. If a child asks for explanation, the simple reply is, Because I said so. Usually these parents are less responsive and have high demands and expectations. According to Baumrind, these parents are obedience- and status-oriented, and expect their orders to be obeyed without explanation ( Rosenfeld, 2007). Such parents expect complete cooperation from their children and are not at all tolerant about the rules and regulations set by them. They expect maturity on the part of children and are very less interactive with their children. Children of such parents are usually focused in studies and tend to make good grades. They develop the habit of staying out of troubles. A negative impact of this parenting s tyle is that the children are not socially developed as they are never motivated and encouraged to give and develop opinions. They are shy and unconfident, and lack decision making power. This make them less interactive and negatively affect their decision making power. Second parenting style is known as authoritative parenting. This is a relatively democratic style of parenting as the parents are responsive and receptive towards their children. They are usually willing to respond to the questions of their children. Moreover, they are more encouraging and forgiving parents rather than punishing ones in case the child does not come up to their expectation. Baumrind suggests that these parents monitor and communicate clear standards for their childrens conduct. They are forceful, but not aggressive and restrictive. The disciplinary methods adopted by them are supportive. They want their children to be confident as well as socially responsible ( Rosenfeld, 2007). This style ensures healthy development among children because they are taught to abide by rules and regulations in a positive way. They are allowed to asked questions and develop personal opinions. Children of such parents are socially interactive and confident as they have the habit of develo ping opinions. They are self-assured. Third parenting style suggested by Baumrind is known as Permissive parenting. These types of parents are often referred as tolerant parents and they tend to make fewer demands to their children. These parents are less concerned about disciplining their children as they have low expectations of adulthood and self-control. According to Baumrind, permissive parents are more receptive than demanding. They are less concerned about culture and are soft. They do not require mature attitude, allow significant self-regulation, and avoid conflict ( Rosenfeld, 2007). They are friendly with their children. Parents in this case intend to be their childs friend then being a disciplinary figure. Parent-children communication is encouraged. Children raised by indulgent parents have developed self-confidence, healthier social skills and lower levels of depression. All these factors in turn develop a positive and optimistic attitude in individuals. The negative impact of such parenting style is that a childs emotional development is harmed and damaged. He does not matures in this area. Last category of parenting added by Maccoby and Martin is known as uninvolved parenting. These parents are usually less demanding, less communicative and less responsive. They manage to fulfill the basic needs and necessities of their children but overall, they are less attached to their children. In some cases, these parents are ignorant to the extent that they may even ignore the needs and necessities of their children. Such parents are ambivalent to their childs necessities and desires. They are neglectful about their children. As parents are less demanding and do not intend to make rules for their children, hence children lack communication, encouragement and praise. Children of such parents develop negative features in their personalities and lack confidence. They are not socially active and confident because less compliance demand by parents stunts their social growth. They are never educated about handling different situations, hence cognitive growth is negatively affected. These parenting styles have a significant impact on childrens psychology. The study of 100 preschool children helped Baumrind to develop the impact of parenting on children. For instance, Authoritarian parenting styles normally result in obedient and respectful children, who are quiet skillful, but they rank lower in happiness and social capability. On the contrary, Authoritative parenting style results in happy and socially capable children. Thirdly, Permissive parenting often results in children who face problems with power and usually show poor and weak performance in school. Lastly, uninvolved parenting styles have the lowest rank among all the categories of parenting. As these children are ignored by the parents so they grow as individuals with less self-control, low self-esteem and are less capable and skilled as compared to their peers. Another important aspect of parenting style is that the adolescent behavior is an important measure that can have a significant influence on parenting style. For instance, if a child breaks a curfew, both parents adopt a measure to deal with the child in order to enforce an action. Hence, childs behavior has a major influence on the parenting style adopted by parents. A cooperative and motivated child is more probable to have parents who adopt an authoritative parenting attitude. On the other hand, an unhelpful, immature and careless teen may be more expected to provoke a parenting style that is authoritarian or uninvolved parenting style. Overall attitude of the child tends to evolve parenting style of the children. It is commonly practiced on the part of the parents that they change their parenting habits with time. Few parents are more rigid with elder children and less rigid with younger ones. Hence, the time period, changes in culture and environment and changes in circumstances evolves the parents as well as their parenting style. Ethnicity is another vital aspect that can have an influence on the parenting style. It has been observed that authoritative parenting style is more prevalent among white families as compared to others. On the other hand, authoritarian parenting style seems to be more common among ethnic minority families. The basic reason behind this influence is the impact of culture and parental beliefs. For instance, ethnic minority families usually live in dangerous neighborhoods where life isnt secure so parents tend to adopt authoritarian behavior as it stresses upon parental control and compliance. In this scenario, this style of parenting is necessary for the safety of the children. There are other measures as well that can significantly influence the parenting style. For instance, internal factors like lack of sleep and mood, external factors such as work stress and duties and childs personality and attitude. All these factors play a vital role on parenting style adopted by parents. According to the overall study of different parenting styles authoritative parenting is considered the most effective with fruitful and positive impacts on childrens overall brought up as compared to other three parenting styles (Pressley McCormick, 2007). Now the question arises, what makes authoritative parenting the best one among all? Many reasons can be listed such as warm and receptive attitude of the parents towards the children result in a comfortable environment at home. As the result of this comfort provided at home, children usually develop a positive approach towards life. Children of the authoritative parenting style are usually self-sufficient, self-controlled, and content, hence they have an optimistic attitude overall. They develop personal opinion; interact with peers in an effective and efficient manner. They can handle situations in a wise manner. They gain all necessary skills because of the parenting style adopted at home. Overall surrounding and culture can have a vital impact on the parenting style. Research has shown that most of the Chinese parents adopt authoritarian parenting style ( Zimmerman Schunk, 2011). Chines parents are strict about rules and regulations; unnecessary freedom is not granted to Chinese children and parents are usually strict about the code of conduct and ethics. One of the major reasons behind this parenting style being prevalent in Chinese parents is basically the one child policy imposed by the government. It restricts all Chinese families to have only one child. As a result of this policy, all the attention of the Chinese parents is focused on their only child, hence they want to see perfection in their upbringing and they tend to adopt this parenting style. It leaves no room for failure on the part of parents. Secondly, the culture of China promotes hard work, so parents in China intend to raise bright and intelligent children who can excel in life thus they adopt autho ritarian parenting style. Thus the parenting style of China is similar to the authoritarian style of Diana Baumrinds theory of parenting. It has the similar outcomes among Chinese children as discussed above in Baumrinds theory. Chinese children adopt almost all the measures of Baumrinds authoritarian theory. Similarly a sample of 408 students was studied to determine the parenting style commonly practiced in Canada. Parental Authority Questionnaire, the Perception of Parental Reciprocity Scale, the Social Provisions Scale-Present Version and parental interviews were conducted to measure students and parents upon various scales to judge their relationship with their parents to figure out the parenting style being practiced. The research showed that authoritative parenting is the style commonly practiced in Canada ( Shaw, 2008). This study determined that Canadian parents are more tolerant. They seem to have authoritative parenting style. Canadians have a relatively democratic style of parenting as the parents are responsive and receptive towards their children. They are usually ready to respond to the questions of their children. They are less punitive and coercive. Although Canadian parents are concerned about rules and regulations but they are forgiving in case a child fails to abide by the rule or come up to the expectation of the parents. The disciplinary methods adopted by them are kind. Hence the features of authoritative parenting style of Baumrinds theory is seems to be practiced in Canadian culture. Based on past research, all three dimensions of authoritative parenting (connection, Regulation, and autonomy granting) seem to exist in the context of Japanese culture (Golombok, 2000). There is an old Japanese proverb, there is no treasure that surpasses a child. Japanese hold a high respect for childhood period and consider it a cherished and valued period in the human life cycle. This way of thinking among Japanese develops thinking that children are innocent and naturally good. Environment tends to affect them in later years of life. This belief develops a view among Japanese that parenting is like caring for a plant that must be carefully cultivated, skilled and pruned as it rises. Most of the children in Japan are greatly dependent upon mothers. It is a common practice in Japan that mothers performs most of the tasks of their children which includes decision-making about hobbies, education and career paths. Thus most of the Japanese children are obedient and dutiful towards th eir parents. Parenting in Japan is closely associated with understanding with parents specially mothers. Most of the mothers in Japan are so close to their child that they establish a relationship wherein mother and child have a collective mind rather than two separate, individual minds. They use this understanding and closeness to teach their children about morals, values, ethics, and to persuade them to behave wisely. They prefer to not to use coercive methods. Some of the features of Japanese parenting style are in accordance with authoritarian parenting style of Baumrind but it has some contrasting features as well. For instance, parents in Japan do not tend to punish their children if they fail to obey them. Rather, they use their understanding and closeness with the children to correct them. Hence, they are relatively lenient as compared to Baumrinds authoritarian parenting style. Japanese rather apply rational parenting approach to up bring their children. In rational parenting approach, well aware Japanese moms consult child development professionals, doctors, educators, family and friends in order to make the finest choices for their children as they mature. Secondly, Nest building and feeling parenting are two usual methods practiced by modern Japanese mothers to exercise control over their childs thinking. This helps them to develop a perfect understanding with their children. In this practice, parents tend to take keen interest in their childs nutrition, communication, activities and even fashion. Mothers prefer to keep their children at home most of the time and avoid social and outdoor activities. They are taught to communicate fairly, regularly and solely with their mothers. This approach focuses to increase dependency while depending upon the trust and closeness the child feels toward his mother. From the study about Japanese way of parenting, it is quite evident that few of the features of parenting are in accordance to Baumrinds authoritarian parenting style but overall, a unique method is practice by Japanese to parent the children. On the whole, each of these parenting styles mentioned above tends to have certain influences on childrens behavior. Inconsistency in parents approach regarding the parenting behavior can be damaging for the children. Neither all parenting styles are perfectly right or completely wrong. It is a continuous lifelong job of trials and mistakes. It needs to be evolved timely with emerging situations and changed circumstances. The results are never 100 percent. All parents adopt various approaches to raise their children with no fixed rules and regulations, no written commands and no proper instructions. What works with one child at home might completely fail in case of other child at home. Even real siblings are completely different individuals with different habits and behaviors. Situations aroused with time impel us to act in a particular way. They impact us consciously and subconsciously. Thus parenting refers to how we were raised, when we were raised, and where we were raised. All t hese factors together play an important role in parenting. Parents must constantly monitor their childs behavior and attitude and change their parenting style accordingly. Rigidity in parenting style is never advisable.
